Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NRSV)
Reflection:
Not every star-word feels comforting. Some seem inconvenient or confrontational. A word might touch a sensitive spot or draw us toward something we’d rather avoid. Resistance often appears quietly, as hesitation, restlessness, or discomfort, and that resistance itself can be revealing.
God does not give us words to burden or shame us into growth. Instead, God offers words that honestly meet us. When something unsettles us, it may be because grace is already working there. Growth often starts where we feel least certain or least strong.
Even without a star-word, this reflection is important. Pay attention to what causes resistance in you. Instead of pushing it away, approach it with kindness. God often meets us right there.
Practice:
Notice where you feel resistance today, internally or in relationships. Name it gently.
Writing Prompt:
What might my resistance be protecting, and what could it be drawing in?
Prayer:
Gentle God,
when I feel uneasy or unsure,
help me stay present instead of pulling away.
Teach me to trust that your grace
is enough for what I’m carrying.
Amen.
