Scripture: “Though the earth should change, though the mountains shake… the Lord of hosts is with us.” — Psalm 46:2–7 (NRSV)
Reflection:
We live in a time of unrest—political turmoil, wars, environmental damage, and personal grief. The psalmist does not pretend otherwise. Faith does not ignore the chaos; it dares to believe that even amid upheaval, God remains faithful.
Stillness in these moments becomes prophetic. When the world trembles, our calm trust witnesses to a greater power. It says: God’s purposes are not undone. Our calling has not vanished. We can still be people of mercy, even when fear governs.
Application:
Choose a headline or global crisis that burdens your heart. Pray specifically for those affected, and ask God to show you one tangible act of compassion you can do this week.
Writing Prompt:
Where do I feel the “earth trembling” most strongly in the world or within myself? How can stillness help me stay steady in faith?
Prayer:
Faithful God, when everything feels uncertain, remind me that your presence endures. Let my stillness be a witness of hope in a shaking world. Amen.
