Scripture: Habakkuk 2:1 (NRSV)
“I will stand at my watchpost, and station myself on the rampart; I will keep watch to see what he will say to me.”
Reflection:
After lamenting, Habakkuk takes his position. He doesn’t rush to fix or run away; he waits, alert and prepared. The image of the watchtower reflects a stance of both faith and discipline—eyes open, heart steady, waiting for God to speak.
Waiting is not inactivity. It’s an act of trust. It involves choosing not to fill the silence with noise or distraction but to stay attentive to what God might reveal. When we adopt the watchtower stance, we position ourselves between the brokenness of the world and the hope of heaven, ready to listen and live differently.
Application: Take five quiet minutes today. No music, no phone. Just breathe and wait—asking God to help you see with fresh eyes.
Writing Prompt:
When have you felt called to “stand at your watchpost”? What did you learn during the waiting?
Prayer:
Steadfast God, teach me to wait with purpose, not impatience. Help me to keep watch for your word and your will amid the noise of my days. Amen.
