Scripture: Ruth 1:16 (NRSV)
“Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God.”
Reflection:
Ruth’s commitment to Naomi wasn’t convenient. It wasn’t strategic. It was costly, uncertain, and deeply relational. But in staying, Ruth demonstrated a love that didn’t waver. A connection that didn’t walk away. In a world that often values efficiency and self-interest, staying can feel countercultural. But it’s one of the clearest signs of a God-shaped connection. Love doesn’t abandon when things get hard. It stays—and becomes holy.
Application:
Revisit a relationship or situation you’ve been tempted to avoid or withdraw from. Reach out—not to fix anything, but just to stay present.
Writing Prompt:
Where are you being called to remain—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—even when walking away would be easier?
Prayer:
God of covenant love,
Give me strength to stay—
in conversations, relationships, and callings
that require patience and trust.
May my presence reflect your faithfulness.
Amen.
