Scripture: Luke 21:18–19 (NRSV) — “By your endurance you will gain your souls.”
Reflection:
Endurance is not about white-knuckling your way through life. It’s not stoicism or emotional shutdown. Jesus describes a steady, grounded way of being that keeps us connected to God’s love when everything else pulls at us. This endurance is about presence — staying open, compassionate, centered, and connected.
Most of the time, endurance is about choosing the next loving act. Not the perfect or impressive thing, just the next loving choice. That’s where the soul grows: in small steps that keep us connected to God’s heart. Prayer by prayer, conversation by conversation, moment by moment, God deepens our roots.
It’s slow work. Sacred work. Transformative work.
Application:
Do one small act of love today that you don’t feel like doing — a call, a kindness, a prayer, or a piece of forgiveness.
Writing Prompt:
What “next loving act” might God be inviting you to practice consistently this week?
Prayer:
God of gentle strength, grant me grace for the next small step. Root my soul in your love so I can endure with hope. Amen.
