Scripture (NRSV): Matthew 28:19–20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Reflection: These are the final words Matthew records from Jesus. They are not a suggestion, but a commission. The mission of the Church is not to keep traditions alive or to maintain an institution, but to make disciples who make disciples. Notice that Jesus doesn’t send his followers out on their own; he promises to be with them always. That means disciple-making isn’t primarily about strategies or programs, but about walking with people in the presence of Christ. When we share life, create space for grace, and invite others into what we are learning ourselves, we live this mission. Without it, the Church loses its heartbeat.
Application: Identify one person you could intentionally walk with in faith this week. Reach out with a text, call, or invitation to connect.
Writing Prompt: Who has had the greatest influence on your walk with Jesus, and how did they walk with you?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for trusting us with your mission. Grant me the courage to embrace it today, not with fear but with faith. Amen.
