Scripture: Matthew 25:40 (NRSV)
“And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’”
Reflection:
Jesus doesn’t separate himself from those who are hurting. He identifies with them. This isn’t just a metaphor—it’s a mystery: when we connect with someone in need, we encounter Christ. But that encounter isn’t about completing a task. It’s about making space for presence, dignity, and relationship. The impact we have through connection isn’t about what we do for others, but how we are with them.
Application:
Take time to be fully present with someone today. Turn off distractions. Listen without trying to fix. Let your presence be your gift.
Writing Prompt:
Think of a time when someone stayed present with you—not to fix anything, but just to be there. How did that impact you?
Prayer:
Jesus, help me see you in the people I might overlook.
Slow me down today so I can be fully present.
Not to perform, but to connect.
Not to fix, but to love.
Amen.
