Scripture: Luke 10:5 (NRSV)
"Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’"
Reflection:
When Jesus sends out the seventy disciples, He doesn’t equip them with power or possessions—He sends them with peace. They are not to force their way in, but to offer a blessing, and if it is not received, to move on in peace. This is a radical way to live in a divided and defensive world. As disciples today, we are still sent—not to win arguments, but to offer peace. Peace is not passive. It is a courageous refusal to repay harm with harm, and an invitation to make space for God’s presence wherever we go.
Application:
Consciously speak peace into at least one conversation or space today. Offer a kind word, a calm presence, or a gentle blessing—even in a tense environment.
Writing Prompt:
How do you usually respond when you're not received well? How might Jesus’ example reshape your approach?
Prayer:
Jesus, Prince of Peace, help me to walk in the way of peace today. Let my words and actions be rooted in love, not fear. Make me a vessel of your peace in every room I enter. Amen.
