Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:4a — “a time to weep, and a time to laugh.”
Reflection:
Joy is a gift, but many of us struggle to accept it. We may feel guilty when things go well, especially if others are suffering. Or we worry that the joy won’t last, so we guard our hearts from disappointment.
But Ecclesiastes reminds us that joy has its time — laughter, celebration, and delight are not trivial. They are sacred moments when God’s goodness shines through. Faithfulness in seasons of joy means gratitude and sharing the gift of gladness with others.
Application: Celebrate something today — big or small. Share joy with someone else: a smile, a word of encouragement, or an act of kindness.
Writing Prompt: When was the last time I felt deep joy? How did I share it with others?
Prayer:
Joyful God, thank you for laughter and gladness. Help me to receive joy as a holy gift and to share it freely, so that others may know your goodness. Amen.
