Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:4b — “a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”
Reflection:
Grief is not a sign of weakness. It is a faithful response to love lost, injustice that still wounds, or hope that remains unfulfilled. Too often, our culture tries to silence grief with quick phrases — “you’ll get through this,” “it’ll get better soon.”
But Ecclesiastes affirms that mourning has its place. God is present in our tears, and faithfulness means allowing ourselves to lament, to be comforted, and to walk with others through their sorrow.
Application: Reach out to someone who is grieving. Offer your presence — not answers, but compassion.
Writing Prompt: What losses or burdens am I carrying that I need to name honestly before God?
Prayer:
Compassionate God, thank you for holding my tears. Help me not to rush past grief but to trust you with my sorrow. Teach me to walk with others in theirs. Amen.
