Scripture: Colossians 2:6–7 (NRSV)
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith.”
Reflection:
Grace is not just how faith begins; it is how faith continues. We don’t outgrow grace or move beyond it once we’ve learned the basics. We stay rooted in it, repeatedly returning to the truth that God’s love precedes our effort.
Paul speaks of a life that is rooted and built up. Roots grow quietly and unseen over time. They keep us steady when life feels uncertain and nourish us even when growth is slow. A faith rooted in grace does not rush toward perfection; it develops through steady trust and daily presence.
Grace doesn’t just meet us when we finally let go; it holds us as we keep living. As this week comes to an end, grace invites us not to try harder but to stay rooted, carrying grace into our relationships, decisions, and everyday moments. Faith appears not through urgency but through lives shaped over time by love.
Practice:
Stand or sit with both feet firmly planted on the ground. Take a slow breath and imagine grace supporting you and keeping you steady where you are.
Journaling Prompt:
What helps you stay grounded in grace when life feels chaotic or demanding?
Prayer:
Rooted God,
thank you for the grace that grounds us and holds us steady.
As we step into a new week,
help us live from what you have already given—
belonging, love, and hope.
Keep us grounded in you.
Amen.
