Scripture: Matthew 11:28 — “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Reflection:
Jesus begins with an invitation: “Come to me.” Rest here is not just leisure for the privileged but freedom for the weary. His rest challenges the lie that our worth depends on productivity. By laying our burdens at Christ’s feet, we trust that God loves us as we are — not for what we accomplish.
This kind of rest is deeply personal. It renews tired bodies and anxious minds. Yet it is also disruptive because it refuses to let exhaustion define us. To rest in Christ is to resist every voice that says we must earn our dignity.
Application: Take a deliberate pause today — whether it's a nap, a walk, or a moment of silence — and dedicate it to trusting that you are enough in God’s eyes.
Writing Prompt: What burdens am I carrying that Christ is inviting me to lay down today?
Prayer:
Gentle Christ, quiet my restless striving. Teach me to resist the lie that I am only what I produce. Let your rest free me to live as your beloved. Amen.
