Scripture: Luke 10:33–34 (NRSV)
“But a Samaritan while traveling came near him; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity. He went to him…”
Reflection:
The Samaritan didn’t see the wounded man as just a problem to fix. He approached. He created space for discomfort, risk, and connection. He didn’t just schedule help—he offered his presence. Our challenge is the same: to see people as more than just needs or issues. When we do, genuine connection is possible—and change can happen.
Application:
Today, allow someone to interrupt your plans. Offer them your time, attention, and the respect of your full presence. Stay in the moment, even if it’s inconvenient.
Writing Prompt:
When have you ever been tempted to “help from a distance”? What might it have looked like if you had stepped closer instead?
Prayer:
God who draws near,
Teach me to move toward others with compassion.
Help me release the need to control, fix, or finish.
Let me value people over plans, and presence over productivity.
Amen.
