Scripture (NRSV): 2 Timothy 2:2
“And what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well.”
Reflection: Paul’s words to Timothy describe four generations of disciple-making: Paul to Timothy, Timothy to faithful people, and those people to others. That’s multiplication. The Church doesn’t grow because one leader does all the teaching or serving, but because disciples invest in others who will then invest in more. Addition is quick but shallow; multiplication is slower but more lasting. This is how the Church has lasted for two thousand years — not through programs or strategies, but through disciples who make disciples, generation after generation.
Application: Find a way to not only share your faith but also help someone else share theirs. Mentor, encourage, or equip someone to walk with others.
Writing Prompt: Where in your life can you see the ripple effects of multiplication — someone investing in you, and you investing in others?
Prayer: God, let my life not just add, but multiply. Shape me to be a disciple who makes disciples, for the sake of your kingdom. Amen.
