Scripture:
Luke 2:1–7 (NRSV)
Key Verse:
“She laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them.” — Luke 2:7
Reflection:
Jesus enters the world quietly, not in ideal circumstances but in borrowed space. A manger becomes holy not because it is perfect, but because love shows up there. Christmas reminds us that God does not wait for everything to be in order before arriving.
A new year naturally prompts reflection. What has filled our lives? What has crowded our attention? Making space isn’t about guilt or obligation—it’s about desire. What do we want to create room for as God continues to dwell among us?
God still shows up in the everyday, asking not for greatness, but for acceptance.
Application (Practice):
Clear one small physical space today—a drawer, a corner, a surface—as a quiet act of intention, creating space without requiring it to be perfect.
Writing Prompt:
What has filled your life in the past year—emotionally, spiritually, or practically? While you write, think about what you might need to release or loosen to make space for what matters most.
Prayer:
God-with-us,
help us make room for what truly matters.
Dwell with us in this new beginning.
Amen.
