Scripture: Luke 1:39–45 (NRSV)
Key Verse:
“Mary set out and went with haste… and greeted Elizabeth.” (Luke 1:39–40)
Reflection:
After receiving her call, Mary does not stay alone. She goes to Elizabeth. Love draws her toward community, toward someone who can listen, understand, and rejoice with her. Fear isolates; love connects.
Elizabeth’s response affirms Mary’s courage and calling. In this shared space, fear loosens its grip. Love becomes tangible through relationship, encouragement, and shared joy.
Advent reminds us that we are not meant to carry fear or calling alone. Love shows up through the people God places in our lives.
Application & Reflection Prompt:
Who has helped strengthen your faith or courage this season?
Write a note of gratitude or reflect on how you might offer that support to someone else.
Prayer:
God of community,
thank you for placing companions to walk with us on our journey.
Help us both to receive and offer love freely.
Amen.
