Scripture: Luke 1:46–55 (NRSV)
Key Verse:
“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” (Luke 1:46–47)
Reflection:
Mary’s song arises not from ease, but from trust. Her joy does not deny the challenges ahead; it proclaims that love is already at work. Joy, here, is an act of resistance against fear’s power.
This joy is communal and hopeful—it envisions a world transformed by justice, mercy, and compassion. Love grants Mary the courage to sing even before the story concludes.
Advent joy reminds us that love can inspire praise even during uncertain times.
Application & Reflection Prompt:
Where have you seen glimpses of joy this week?
Write a short prayer or poem naming those moments.
Prayer:
Joyful God,
teach us to rejoice in your love at work among us.
Let joy rise even when the path ahead is unclear.
Amen.
