Scripture: Habakkuk 2:4a (NRSV)
“Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith.”
Reflection:
Faith is not an escape from reality—it is how we face it. Habakkuk contrasts the proud who rely on themselves with the faithful who trust in God’s unseen work. Pride insists on control; faith releases it. Pride demands answers; faith persists even without them.
To live by faith is to ground our lives in something deeper than success or certainty. It is to act with integrity, compassion, and courage even when outcomes are uncertain. The faithful don’t wait for perfect conditions; they choose to trust despite the unknown.
Application:
Name one area of your life where you’ve been trying to control the outcome. Offer it to God in prayer and take one faithful step instead.
Writing Prompt:
When has faith guided you to act even when you didn’t know how things would turn out?
Prayer:
God of grace, help me to live not driven by fear or pride, but by faith. Give me the courage to trust you in everything and to follow the path you set before me. Amen.
