Scripture: Luke 2:19 (NRSV)
Reflection:
Mary did not rush to explain what was happening around her. She pondered. She treasured these moments in her heart. That kind of patient attentiveness, so different from our instinct to analyze or conclude, is deeply spiritual. It reminds us that meaning does not need to arrive quickly to be real.
Star-words are not meant to be solved. They are meant to be lived with. A word may feel unclear at first, even distant or awkward. Over time, it may surprise you, appearing in conversations, decisions, or prayers you did not expect. The word may change not because it failed, but because you are changing.
This is how faith tends to work. Growth develops quietly, below the surface, long before it becomes visible. God’s work in us is seldom rushed, but it remains faithful.
Practice:
Resist the urge to “figure it out.” Choose curiosity over conclusions.
Writing Prompt:
What questions does my word, or this season, encourage me to consider rather than answer?
Prayer:
Patient God,
teach me to wait without anxiety
and to listen without rushing.
Help me trust that meaning will come
in its own time,
and that you are present even in the waiting.
Amen.
