Scripture: Colossians 3:12–14 (NRSV)
“As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience… Above all, clothe yourselves with love.”
Reflection:
Your Star Word was never intended to be a goal to attain or a trait to perfect. It was given as a gift, serving as a lens through which to observe how God’s love might unfold in your life this year. When Paul writes to the Colossians about being “clothed” in compassion, kindness, and patience, he describes something lived and embodied. Love isn’t just an idea we hold in our minds; it’s something we wear, something that moves with us through everyday moments.
This week’s focus on love encourages us to ask a gentler question: What might love look like when it takes the shape of my Star Word? For some, love may appear as courage—speaking up when silence seems easier. For others, love may take the form of patience, healing, wisdom, or trust. Your Star Word does not replace love; it enriches love with texture. It helps love become specific rather than abstract.
Faith reveals itself when we choose to practice love in ways that are personal, realistic, and grounded in grace. You are not expected to become someone else; instead, you are invited to let love flow through who you already are, gradually, imperfectly, and faithfully, one moment at a time.
Practice:
Today, gently hold your Star Word in your awareness. As you go through the day, notice where love naturally aligns with that word. Don’t force it; just observe how love might already be forming around it.
Journaling Prompt:
How does my Star Word help me recognize a way love is being expressed in my life right now?
Prayer:
God of grace, thank you for meeting us personally and patiently. For the words you place in our hands, not as demands but as invitations. Help us notice how love is already at work within us — taking shape through who we are becoming. May our faith grow not through striving but through daily practices of love. Amen.
