Scripture: Matthew 11:10–11 (NRSV)
Key Verse: “See, I am sending my messenger…”
Reflection
Joy is not only something God gives us but also something God sends with us. John’s life, even in its uncertainty, participates in God’s unfolding story. Jesus affirms that John’s witness matters, not because he felt confident or strong, but because he opened space for God’s work to continue in him and through him.
The same is true for us. Advent joy prepares us for mission. It sends us into the world with renewed imagination, courage, and tenderness. Joy isn’t passive; it moves. It nudges us toward places where hope is thin and asks us to bring light, encouragement, and presence. It reminds us that God works through imperfect, everyday people to reveal extraordinary grace.
As this week ends, we remember that joy is both a gift and a calling. We accept it—and we carry it with us. We let it influence how we show up, how we speak, how we serve, and how we love.
Application
Pick one specific way today to share joy with someone else—whether it’s a blessing, a note, a prayer, or simply being present.
