Scripture:
Micah 5:2–5a (NRSV)
Key Verse:
“But you, O Bethlehem… from you shall come forth for me one who is to rule.” — Micah 5:2
Reflection:
Bethlehem was not a city of power or prominence. It was small, easy to overlook. Yet, Micah insists this is precisely where hope will emerge. God’s redemption does not rely on size, status, or recognition.
This is good news for us as the year comes to an end. It reminds us that faithfulness isn’t judged by visibility or achievement. God often works behind the scenes through quiet acts of bravery, small acts of kindness, and ongoing commitments that go unnoticed.
Christmas reminds us that nothing given in love is ever wasted. Even the smallest starts can hold the seeds of peace.
Application (Practice):
Do one everyday task today—washing dishes, making a call, tidying a space— with extra care and attention, treating it as sacred rather than rushed.
Writing Prompt:
Describe a small moment, habit, or relationship that has quietly supported you this year. How might God be present in that ordinary place?
Prayer:
God of quiet beginnings,
help us honor the small places where your hope is taking root.
Amen.
