Scripture: Habakkuk 1:3–4 (NRSV)
“Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. So the law becomes slack and justice never prevails.”
Reflection:
Habakkuk’s lament is similar to our newsfeeds—full of violence, corruption, and despair. The prophet isn’t ignoring faith; he’s living it openly. Faith doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. It’s about trusting in God’s goodness even when evidence seems scarce.
God invites us to share honestly what we see and feel. When justice fails and goodness seems lost, we are called not to deny but to engage more deeply—to pray, speak up, and act with courage. Our faith strengthens when we dare to ask why and continue conversations with God.
Application:
Identify one injustice that weighs on your heart. Pray not only for it to end but also for the courage to respond faithfully in a small way.
Writing Prompt:
How does naming injustice before God strengthen your relationship with God?
Prayer:
God of truth, you see the brokenness of our world and still invite us to hope. Keep my heart open even when my spirit feels weary. Teach me to hold my questions without losing my faith. Amen.
