Scripture: Psalm 23:2 — “He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters.”
Reflection:
The shepherd does not lead one sheep to rest while the others struggle on. His care covers the entire flock. God’s rest is communal — green pastures and still waters for everyone, not just the privileged.
This means our faith must go beyond our own renewal. Rest becomes justice when we ensure others — workers, caregivers, neighbors — are given space to breathe. When we create green pastures for others, we embody the Shepherd’s care.
Application: Recognize someone who is weary today. Offer them encouragement, assistance, or simply permission to rest.
Writing Prompt: Who in my community is being denied rest, and how can I join God in restoring them?
Prayer:
Shepherding God, teach me to seek rest for myself and my community. Make me a companion in restoring others. Amen.
