Scripture: Haggai 2:9a
“The latter splendor of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts.”
Reflection:
The people longed for the past, but God called them to a future filled with new glory. The rebuilt temple would not look the same—but God’s presence would fill it in fresh ways. The promise of “greater glory” invites us to imagine what love might become when we stop trying to repeat yesterday.
God continues to create beauty through us. What appears small or simple can carry great grace because true glory isn’t about appearances but about being present.
Application:
Look for one sign today that God is creating something new, no matter how subtle, and give thanks for it.
Writing Prompt:
Where might God be inviting you to let go of the past and trust in a “greater glory” ahead?
Prayer:
God of unfolding futures, free me from nostalgia that blinds me to your new work. Fill me with hope for the glory yet to come. Amen.
