Scripture: Romans 5:8 (NRSV)
“But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.”
Reflection:
Grace does not wait for us to have everything figured out. God’s love moves toward us while we are still unsure, still questioning, still becoming. That is where belonging begins—not with certainty, but with being welcomed.
But grace rarely ends with us. The grace we receive begins to transform how we connect with others. When we realize we belong without needing to prove ourselves, we start to envision communities where others can belong too, without pressure, without prerequisites, or without fear.
This is how faith grows. Not in isolation, and not by demanding agreement, but by making room for one another. Grace creates space where trust can develop, questions can be expressed, and people are not pressured for immediate answers. Belonging becomes the soil where faith can take root and flourish, together.
Practice:
Notice one moment today where you can foster a sense of belonging by listening, welcoming, or simply being present.
Journaling Prompt:
Who has helped create space for you to belong, and who might be longing for that kind of space now?
Prayer:
Welcoming God,
thank you for loving us before we are certain,
and for calling us into communities shaped by that same grace.
Teach us to make room for one another,
so that faith may grow—not alone, but together.
Amen.
