Scripture: Lamentations 3:22–23 (NRSV)
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”
Reflection:
We often picture grace arriving at turning points, after a mistake, during a crisis, or at the moment of spiritual breakthrough. But scripture reminds us that grace is not occasional or reactive; it is constant. It meets us not only in what feels sacred but also in the routines and repetitions of everyday life.
New mercies don’t wait for us to be ready. They arrive quietly each morning, woven into moments we might otherwise overlook: familiar conversations, daily responsibilities, pauses we didn’t plan. Grace does not depend on how meaningful the day feels. It simply shows up.
A faith that begins with grace learns to notice it everywhere. When we stop waiting for faith to feel dramatic or impressive, we start to notice how deeply God is already present, supporting us, meeting us, and gently shaping us through everyday life.
Practice:
Choose one simple task today, like making coffee, driving, or washing dishes, and do it slowly while paying attention to God’s presence in the moment.
Journaling Prompt:
Where might grace already be showing up in the everyday rhythms of your day?
Prayer:
Steadfast God,
thank you for mercies that greet us each morning
and grace that does not depend on our awareness.
Help us slow down enough to notice
where you are already present,
and to trust that even ordinary days
are held in your love.
Amen.
