Scripture: Psalm 46:1 (NRSV) — “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Reflection:
There’s a quiet grace working beneath the surface while we’re busy trying to keep everything together. When change wears on us, we often feel pressure to be strong for everyone else. Yet Scripture reminds us that our refuge isn’t in our ability — it’s in God’s presence.
When we slow down enough to breathe, we can again feel that refuge: the steady presence that doesn’t waver regardless of circumstances. God’s grace is not loud or dramatic. It’s patient. It holds us while we’re learning. It strengthens us without demanding perfection.
Endurance increases not because we try harder, but because God sustains us longer.
Application:
Take five minutes today to sit in silence. No agenda — just presence.
Writing Prompt:
Where do you feel God strengthening you beneath the surface right now?
Prayer:
Present God, hold me close today. Let your gentle grace renew my strength and steady my heart. Amen.
