Scripture: “Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?” (Psalm 139:7, NRSV)
Reflection:
The psalmist asks a rhetorical question: where can we go to escape God’s presence? The answer is nowhere. From the heights of heaven to the depths of the earth, from joy-filled days to tear-stained nights, God is already there. This isn’t a surveillance threat; it’s a promise of presence. No distance, no darkness, no circumstance can separate us from God.
In times of loneliness or struggle, this reassurance can be life-giving. God’s presence is not limited to sacred spaces but fills our everyday lives — kitchens and classrooms, workplaces and waiting rooms. Wherever we are today, God’s Spirit is already with us, offering comfort, courage, and companionship.
Application: Take a short walk today. As you walk, remind yourself with each step: “God is here. God is here.”
Writing Prompt: Recall a time when you felt God’s presence unexpectedly.
Prayer: Ever-present God, wherever I go, you are already there. Help me to walk in awareness of your presence. Amen.
