Scripture: Acts 2:42 (NRSV)
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Reflection:
From the very beginning, faith was shared before it was explained. The early church didn’t grow because individuals figured everything out on their own. They grew because they showed up together, learning, eating, praying, and living side by side. Faith took shape in everyday routines, not in extraordinary certainty.
That matters because many of us carry an unspoken belief that faith is something we should handle privately. We’re taught to be self-reliant, spiritually independent, and quietly capable. When faith feels fragile or confusing, we assume it’s a personal failure rather than an opportunity for community.
But Acts tells a different story. Faith deepens when it’s practiced in community—not perfectly, not constantly, but faithfully. Growth happens through presence. Through showing up. Through being known and allowing others to walk with us, even when we’re unsure of the next step.
A faith that shows up is not a solo journey; it’s a shared one.
Practice:
Reach out to someone today—by text, call, or conversation—and let them know you’re grateful they’re part of your life.
Journaling Prompt:
Who has influenced your faith just by being present with you?
Prayer:
God of community,
You never intended for us to walk this journey alone.
Thank you for the people who show up in our lives—
with patience, honesty, and care.
Help us release the pressure to grow alone
and open ourselves to the gift of shared faith.
Amen.
