Scripture: “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” — Psalm 46:11 (NRSV)
Reflection:
The psalm ends where it started— with confidence. After acknowledging fear, chaos, and trembling, it concludes in peace: God is with us. This isn’t escapism; it’s formation. Stillness has done its job. The heart that rests in God now rises with courage.
True courage doesn’t come from adrenaline; it comes from steadfastness. Those who have learned to be still before God can bring peace in the storm. They act not out of panic, but from presence. Their lives mirror the rhythm of the Psalm: grounded, fearless, faithful.
Application:
As you go through your day, pause before any important decision or conversation. Take a deep breath and silently pray, “God, be my refuge as I act.”
Writing Prompt:
Where do I need to act courageously right now, and how might stillness with God prepare me for that step?
Prayer:
God of courage and calm, thank you for the stillness that steadies my heart. Let your presence move me from fear to faith, from silence to action, from refuge to witness. Amen.
