Reflection:
There is something beautiful about anticipation. We prepare for weddings, family gatherings, vacations, and celebrations because we know that what lies ahead is worth our attention. Throughout Scripture, God’s people prepared themselves before gathering for worship—not because they needed to earn God’s presence, but because they longed to receive what God was already eager to give. Preparation itself became an act of worship.
Perhaps this week has changed the way you think about worship. Maybe you noticed how easily your attention wanders. Maybe you found yourself pausing to recognize God’s presence during an ordinary moment. Perhaps gathering with other believers or returning after distraction became a quiet reminder of God’s faithfulness. None of these experiences was the destination. They were the beginning of a new way of living. Worship is slowly becoming more than a place you go or an hour you attend. It is becoming a way of orienting your entire life toward the God who has always been turned toward you.
Tomorrow, when you gather with the body of Christ, come expecting God to meet you—not because you have practiced perfectly this week, but because God is faithful. Come ready to sing with gratitude, to pray with honesty, to listen with humility, to encourage someone who needs hope, and to receive encouragement when your own faith feels weak. Come remembering that worship is one of God’s ordinary means of grace, through which the Holy Spirit continues forming ordinary people into the likeness of Christ. Week after week, these ordinary gatherings slowly redirect our attention, reshape our loves, and remind us who we are. We leave worship to serve Christ in the world, and we return to worship so that Christ may continue forming us for that calling.

Application:
Before tomorrow’s worship gathering, pray a simple prayer of preparation. Ask God to give you an open heart, attentive ears, and a willingness to encourage someone else. Then arrive a few minutes early, allowing yourself to settle into God’s presence before worship begins.
Prayer:
Gracious God, thank you for meeting me again and again through the life of your Church. As I prepare to worship with your people, open my heart to your Spirit. Continue shaping my attention, my loves, and my life so that I may more faithfully follow Jesus. Amen.
