Scripture: Isaiah 43:1–2 (NRSV)
Reflection:
At Epiphany, you received a Star Word, a simple word given without explanation or instructions. Like faith itself, it was not meant to be solved or mastered, but to be carried. At this early point in the year, that word might feel unclear, unexpected, or even uncomfortable. You may not yet see how it fits into your life.
Faith often works this way. We are invited to carry something forward without knowing exactly where it will lead. Isaiah reminds us that God’s presence does not depend on clarity or certainty. God meets us in the waters and the fire, places of transition, vulnerability, and change.
A faith that shows up is willing to hold a word, a question, or a promise gently, trusting that meaning unfolds over time. Just as the people of faith in Hebrews trusted God without seeing the full path, we are invited to carry our Star Word with openness and attentiveness, noticing how it quietly begins to shape us.
Practice:
Pause today and gently recall your Star Word. Notice how it feels to hold it without trying to define or explain it.
Journaling Prompt:
What thoughts, emotions, or resistance come up when I reflect on my Star Word?
Prayer:
God who walks with us,
Teach us how to carry what we do not yet understand.
Help us trust the quiet work you are doing within us,
step by step, word by word.
Amen.
