A Short Pause
Sometimes hearing beyond the noise requires us to stop adding to it.
Beginning this weekend, I’ll be stepping away for a couple of weeks on vacation, and Hearing Beyond the Noise will be taking a short pause.
There won’t be any new Daily Devotionals during that time. I’m giving myself permission to rest, disconnect, pay attention to the people and places around me, and trust that the world can keep turning without my commentary.
That may be a spiritual practice in itself.
We live in a culture that constantly tells us to stay connected, stay productive, stay informed, and keep producing. But there are moments when the faithful thing is to stop. To breathe. To listen. To remember that our worth is not measured by how much we accomplish or how loudly we speak.
For a little while, I’m going to practice some of what I write about here.
I’ll be back in October, and we’ll continue listening together for what is true, life-giving, compassionate, and just beneath all the noise.
Until then, I hope you find a bit of quiet for yourself.
