Scripture: “Turn now, all of you from your evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.” (Jeremiah 18:11, NRSV)
Reflection:
God’s message to the people through Jeremiah was urgent: to turn around, change your ways, and walk differently. Repentance is more than just saying “sorry” — it’s about realigning our lives. Like clay that hardens and resists shaping, our hearts can also become tough. Yet God’s call is not about condemnation but an invitation. The potter’s hands don’t give up; they press and guide until something new is formed.
Every day provides us with small opportunities to turn back toward God — to soften, to yield, to be reshaped. Repentance isn't just for moments of failure; it’s a continuous practice of alignment, asking, “Am I being formed toward love, or away from it?” The good news is that God’s invitation always comes with grace. No matter how far we drift, the chance to start again is always available.
Application: Make one deliberate change today that brings you closer to God’s way — kindness instead of indifference, forgiveness instead of resentment, patience instead of hurry.
Writing Prompt: Where do you feel God inviting you to turn around and start fresh?
Prayer: Merciful God, when I resist your shaping, turn me gently toward your will. Help me walk in the way of life. Amen.
